Good morning and happy hump day! Just when you thought you’d never see scheduled housing news again, we’ve got two reports to analyze today. The first is our regular Wed edition of Mortgage Applications. In typical up/down fashion, it was coming off a -4.0% release last week, so I called for an up reading today and missed it as we got a -0.6%. At 9:00 central, we got the biggie, Nov. Existing Home Sales. It’s coming off a +0.8% in Oct. and the street was expecting +3.0%. Our proxy for Existing, Pending Home Sales, was +7.5% at the last reading, so we expected some fireworks this morning. Existing is responsible for as much as 90% of the housing market, so we watch it carefully for clues about the all-important housing sector. Today’s release was +1.9%, a miss but still positive.

Last on deck today, forbearances for Nov. continued to fall to 1.67% of existing mortgages from 2.06% in Oct. Bonds today are down in price slightly, with 10yr T-Notes -3/32 to yield 1.47%. In MBS 30yr FNMA 2.50% are -7/32 to $101-31, which is a 2.09% yield and +80 to the 5.6yr treasury curve. That’s it from us. Have a great day and call or email with your MBS and whole loan inquiries.
